Cooking -- help!

Greetings, readers! I promise a real post soon, but I'm writing to you now to ask for some help. In my dorm's kitchenette, we are lacking an oven, a toaster oven, or a microwave: we only have a stovetop. So I am writing to you to ask for RECIPES. Anything that can be prepared using only a stovetop (and, at the moment, one pot) is much appreciated. Bonus points if it can be served cold or the leftovers are delicious when cold. Ready...set...GO!

  1. Pasta! I lived in an apartment this summer with no microwave, and I just ate a LOT of pasta. Steamed veggies are yummy too. How about a good ole' stir fry? :)

  2. yogurt with fresh cut fruit, oatmeal, cereal, lemon butter broccoli, pasta, chicken noodle soup, chicken teriyaki, broccoli beef, peas n corn with a touch of butter salt n pepper, eggs, omelets, crepes (very good the next day cold), jumbalaya, lentil soup.

Do you have power outlets? can you buy a toaster/microwave/blender? I could never live without a way to toast. Buttered sourdough toast and tea is one of the best breakfasts.

  3. This is tasty: http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/ina-garten/roasted-shrimp-and-orzo-recipe/index.html

Though not kosher. :) And you could cook the shrimp on the stovetop instead of in the oven.
